Artist story and creative journey
I have been molding and throwing clay for years. I enjoy working in a sculptural mode as well as creating cups, bowls and tableware in clay. I am currently doing a series of ceramic wall pieces dealing with still life objects.
Inspiration and artistic perspective
Shape and form are constant joys in creating with clay.
Creative process
Preliminary drawings are my starting points in my work. I plan or explore a variety of shapes and other options and then I go in the studio and get out the clay. The process involves a variety of techniques, making, drying, firing twice.
Experiences that shaped the work
The creative process is a one building piece or idea building on another. There are some aha moments but working steadily is the best method for me.
What the artist wants visitors to know
I hope the viewer can find a moment of Interest in the combination of shape, color, texture in a playful composition.
