I am a multi disciplinary artist. My primary works are jewelry design and photography.
Artist story and creative journey
I am a Dallas born artist, creative with global roots. I have also devoted more two decades of my life serving as a Social Worker. I have been designing interior spaces since the age of 10, jewelry for more than 20 years and photography since 2020. I am tethered to my work by my African ancestry and my American citizenship. I continue to explore the intersection of both and how it shapes my daily HUMAN experience.
Inspiration and artistic perspective
I am inspired by the simplicity and complexity of humanity, culture, tradition, and the natural wonders of this world.
Creative process
My process is a SPIRITUAL experience. I work when I am moved to do so. It is definitely intuitive. I am learning to trust what is given to me by my creator. It is because of the organic nature of my process and my ancestry that I prefer to work with natural materials-semi precious gemstones, horn, bone, wood.
Experiences that shaped your work
As a BLACK woman having this very HUMAN experience I am shaped by my everyday life. I give gratitude to my grandmother (Mattie), my mother (Jennifer) and my aunt (Mildred) for giving me the foundation of-obedience, grace, kindness and love. If not for them my walk would be absent of the ease that I need. This is what feeds me and my life cord to Yaweh.
What you would like visitors to know
I want them to know that my work is ancestral, communal and accessible. It is always my hope that people will feel the JOY that exists throughout my work. I hope that they see the intention. I hope that they hear the stories. I want to ignite all six senses.
