Jennifer Christy Art is a celebration of bold color, dynamic textures, and playful, modern design. My paintings come to life with vibrant hues, whimsical shapes, and expressive details, while my handcrafted jewelry reflects a fusion of contemporary artistry and the chic energy of 1960s mod fashion. Every piece is thoughtfully designed and meticulously handmade in my Dallas, Texas studio.

Artist story and creative journey
My work is deeply shaped by my upbringing in the 1970s and 1980s. It draws on the playful nostalgia of Saturday morning cartoons, the bold, electric color palettes of early Atari video games, and the eccentric visual language of Pee-Wee’s Playhouse, with occasional nods to the darker whimsy of Tim Burton.

Inspiration and artistic perspective

Time has always been my biggest challenge. As a busy working mother, I spend my days teaching elementary art and my evenings caring for my family. Finding time to create my own art can be difficult, so I often have to carve it out wherever I can—waking up at insane hours or staying up far too late just to have some uninterrupted creative time. The truth is, I probably don’t get nearly enough sleep, but creating my own art is important enough to me that I find a way to make it happen.

Creative process
I rarely have full days to spend in my studio. Instead, I work in random pockets of time—an hour here, a couple of hours there—whenever I can squeeze it in and escape into my creative space. Because of this, my process can feel a little explosive. I have all of these ideas constantly building and swirling around in my mind, and when I finally get the chance to create, I know my time is limited. So, I jump in and get to work as quickly as possible! There’s no time to waste when I’m in the studio.

Experiences that shaped my work
My work is influenced by Scandinavian folk motifs, ’60s mod fashion, and mid-century modern art. I’ve been creating art for as long as I can remember, beginning when I was a child. For me, creating isn’t simply something I enjoy—it’s something I need to do. Art is an essential part of who I am, and having a creative outlet is how I process, express, and make sense of the world around me. I truly can’t imagine my life without it.
