Ms Thornton is the first to win the Jean Urbanek award in Paris, France from the Le Societe International Des Beaux Art Society.

She was awarded the medals d’argent/silver medal of the Societe’ Academique des Arts-Sciences-Letters de Paris.

Chosen for a six week international study sabbatical at Santa Reparata International School of Art in Florence, Italy.
